Ariel Bama is an agent or police officer  in a world where air is sparse. Production of air is controlled by powerful groups of people who don't want to give up their monopoly. Cities are built under the water surface. Well, cities is too big a word I guess for the steel constructions people live in. Ariel is a pretty tough girl, very capable with her fists and her firearms. And she has too because living in a confined space with so many people is asking for trouble and rebels and riots are part of a normal day's work. 
It is said that there are still unpolluted areas in the world and a selected team, including Ariel Bama, is sent out in the super submarine Ork to find such a place.
Unfortunately all contact with that ship is lost after this first volume of her adventures surfaced.
