Diablo Rogue

<<<  Index  >>>

The Sisters of the Sightless Eye are a loosely organized guild shrouded in mystery amongst the peoples of the West. These highly skilled archers employ ancient Eastern philosophies that develop an "inner-sight" that they use both in combat and to circumvent dangerous traps that they may encounter. Known only as wandering Rogues in the West, the Sisters conceal their secret affiliation by posing as simple travelers. Many pompous fools have made the mistake of underestimating these steel nerved women in combat and paid a terrible price for their vanity. (official character info)
In the game series Diablo the playable characters are, as in many other games, without name. You have to give them a name yourself. This Rogue here is from the first Diablo game. In the second game you can play with the Amazon and the sorceress and in the Diablo II expansion pack there is also the female assassin.

Soulburner and Hellspawn
This rogue is the only playable female character in the original Diablo game. She arrives in the city of Tristram and learns of the terror that's broken loose in the dungeons below. There are a limited number of quests you can complete, but you don't have to. The main thing of the game is hack and slash and pierce and kill. There are more games like this, but few of them are as thrilling and addictive as this one and the sequel Diablo II.
The characters you play with and the ones you have to defeat are very small, about half the size of the screenshots above. And the dungeons and caves and other strange surroundings you do battle in are basically all alike although the layout of the levels is different each time you play a new game. But once you start playing the game you can hardly stop.  You character grows with each kill in strength, in power, you can upgrade her abilities and she can learn spells that she finds. And you can find the most beautiful armor and weapons or you can buy them , because each monster you kill drops either goods or money. But as the enemies are stronger too when you go deeper in the caves you never have an easy kill until you finished the game  few times at the hardest setting.
Some monsters are really hard to kill because they spit poison or acid or magic arrows like the winged ladies above. When you pulled back to change armor or protective rings or just to wait for your health to get back out of the danger zone you can hear a noise of somebody heavily breathing of fear and tension. It might be a monster but I think it's the rogue. Eerie.
In all games you can give your character a name. My lady is called Jill van Lankmoor. That are too many characters for many games, but then it's just Jill. I've been through many worlds with her.
