| When
she was about ten or thirteen years old Jaïna
and her older sister Dara
had to flee from the city where they and
their family lived because of a dragon and the horrors that surround
dragons. Both sisters later became knights, members of the Order of the Dragon knights.
Dara proved to be a
succesfull dragon-killer, but she was betrayed and killed on
a mission. That mission was to track down and kill the giant dragon in the
mountains of Nero. When it became clear Dara had failed it was Jaïna's
turn to try to slaughter the animal that had now moved near the
town Retz. She went there with her shield-bearer Ellys. The Order of Dragon-knights was formed when men had figured out it was impossible for anybody to go near a dragon because the animals can smell and sense people from a great distance. You just couldn't get close enough to one to kill it. Unless you were a virgin. Somehow dragons can't smell virgins. So all members of the order had to be virgins. Jaïna and Ellys indeed got close to the dragon they were hunting for. In fact they came too close when Ellys confessed she wasn't a virgin anymore. The dragon awoke and with one stroke of his giant claw he tore Jaïna's body apart. She and her sister later were buried in a monastery. Ellys actually managed to kill the dragon, but her actions had killed her best friend too. |
