When young Kaylie Winter was a little girl her parents were slaughtered by an evil demon in the shape of a gigantic teddy bear. And young Kaylie Winter saw it all happen before her eyes. Her age then was 8 years. The place was Ascroft Penitentiary or nearby. The day was the day of the execution of the murderer Nathaniel Arkady. What had happened, except for the fact that she just had lost her parents, Kaylie could not grasp. Few humans could. But she faintly remembered later she was protected and saved by a man called father Estaban Cortez. Cortez was a Hunter, one of very few people, four to be exact, two men, himself included and two women, Kassandra Cheyung and Samantha Alexander, who were able to see evil and, even more important, deal with it. 
Father Cortez raised her and taught her everything she needed to know about defeating evil, to be a Hunter. Kaylie was an excellent pupil. Her fighting and defensive skills are famous in the group. She has taken to the Redeemer creed, which divides monsters into two groups: those that can be put to good use and those that need to die. She fights with a huge chopping sword and a single-shot pistol.
And then, when Kaylie is 18,  the Genefex Corporation settles in Ashcroft. The town needed a big company. The town needed jobs. Well paid jobs. And somehow new zombies and other creatures moved back in. And the young Kaylie Winter, eager for justice, becomes the fifth member of the Hunters. They are ready to tackle once again the hordes of undead who infest the streets of Ashcroft  and are ready and able to wipe them off the streets.
