Leeja Clane

There was Magnus, raised somewhere in a hidden base by the robot 1-A and destined to save humanity from the growing dependency on robots. He was good-looking. And strong. And there was the also good, well, much better looking Leeja Clane, daughter of senator Clane, who started to rebel against having to take orders from robots. And of course, they will meet.
And there was this big city North Am, spreading across the whole continent and there had to be police. Robots of course. PolRobs. Everything in North Am was done by robots. Even entertainment was. They made decisions, they build houses, repaired things... And sometimes they rebelled. An internal error might be the cause, but often they were misused by evil professors and fanatics.

North Am and the police

A beautiful comic about a robot fighter and a lot of robots. There wasn't a name on the artwork, but it wasn't difficult to spot how much Tarzan by Russ Manning looked like this Magnus guy. When I bought them they were printed on cheap paper. Almost the paper newspapers are printed on. When I took them from the shelf years later the paper was brown and they fell apart. I Xeroxed them.  As you can see for yourself, the artwork is beautiful. A very clear line, no gray in it, each drawing perfectly balanced. Here in the Netherlands Magnus was called De Anti-Robot Magier. Never understood why they translated the Robot Fighter into this strange title. Later another artist took over the series.
