The Conan world is created by Robert E. Howard.  Howard wrote a number of books about Conan, Cimmerian, Barbarian. Other characters in this world are Bêlit

Whether you want to or not, you have to compare this with the Conan films. And they could have named Arnold indeed Conan here instead of Kalidor. Dino de Laurentiis had also produced the Conan films and Red Sonja was, like Conan, a Robert E. Howard character. But they choose for a female as leading character. The story is like a Conan story, the weapons and buildings are like Conan weapons and buildings and, of course, Lord Kalidor is much like Conan. And it's a good film, lots of fun, action and adventuring. I like it even better than the real Conan films. But that's obvious of course. Next to Red Sonja (Sooonja as kalidor says), Kalidor, or Conan, or Arnold, just fades...`
