Wellock was captain of the guards in the royal palace in Thies. She and her men were assigned to protect princes Kimber. She was quite an Amazon with a warm interest in other woman, especially in her mistress. One day during the Aeriale festival  princess Kimber decided not to be forced to marry somebody she resented and to escape with the boy Argyll. She escaped the guardians of Wellock with the help of the boy and his gang of thieves. Wellock of course was furious and mobilized her men and started to pursue the fugitives.
Wellock was a strong and well trained leader. She knew all the trades of killers and survivors and was able to take down enemies four times as big as she herself was and she could outthink twelve dozen solders
